Thailand rouwt om het verlies van een grote koning. Zijne Majesteit overleed op 14 october jongstleden, op de leeftijd van 89 jaar. Zijn zoon wordt vermoedelijk de troonopvolger, maar die wil eerst een periode van rouw in acht nemen. De inwoners van Thailand zijn diep verslagen door het verlies. Zij waren bijzonder gehecht aan de koning, die enorm veel voor zijn onderdanen heeft gedaan in de 70 jaren van zijn regering.
Meer dan 200.00 mensen kwamen vandaag, zaterdag 22 october, bijeen om het koningslied te zingen en hem in alle plechtigheid te gedenken. Zie deze link.
